We have been going almost none stop for several days now so I haven't had a chance to write. Here's the run down of mine and Kelly's last few days.
Many of you are also on our facebook so you know that we were at a Iron Chef party last Friday. The secret ingredient was nutmeg. It was a ton of fun. We were with good friends and had a great time. The dinner was very elegant. Katie did an awesome job! The men rounded off the evening playing with Chris's smoke ring gun. Yes, they never grow up but at least they're still cute.
Saturday we went up to the Lexington Barbeque Festival. We got there late afternoon but there were still a lot of people coming and going. We had, had visions of endless amounts of ribs and chopped barbequed in both Eastern and Western style sauce. (For my Western friends, barbeque in North Carolina is split. The Eastern side does a vinegar based barbeque sauce and the Western side does tomato based barbeque). We were disappointed to find only ONE booth selling barbeque. It was you’re typical Carolina pork barbeque sandwich, but they had made the sandwiches earlier that day so by the time we got ours it was all soggy. We then went in search of local companies/restaurants that were selling their barbeque sauces. There were THREE. That’s right, in hundreds of booths there were only three that were actually selling barbeque. Kelly and I were a little disappointed with our experience at the barbeque festival. My co-worker assures me that it’s usually much better.
Sunday we went to Sui and Mo’s house for dinner. Sui’s mom will be leaving this week to go back to Hawaii so they wanted us to all get together before she went. Dinner was delicious as always. Sui made the worlds best Oreo cake and we got to see and coo over Li’i. One of our favorite things is getting together for dinner.
We had a Clue the Movie party on Monday night but I have to run so more on that later. . . .
